Founded in 2021, STONE is an architectural + property development studio based in Crete, Greece.
We specialise in the design and construction of bespoke artisan homes.
What We’re Doing
Having witnessed an abundance of neglected old stone homes scattered across the island falling further and further into decay, we felt compelled to save them. With our creative expertise and practical prowess, we are transforming these once-loved properties into completely bespoke artisan homes, extending their lives and adding to their already fascinating history.
Our Ethos
Each of our projects has our ethos of ‘less is more’ at its absolute core. Although this minimalist aesthetic may appear effortless on the surface, each and every minor detail has been lovingly obsessed over to achieve a perfectly harmonious and balanced design.
The final result is a simple yet refined home design that creates a sense of welcoming calmness.
Sustainability
With sustainability at the heart of what we do, renewable materials and earth-friendly practices play an important role when completing our builds. Utilising natural materials like stone, concrete, wood and metal, (and avoiding animal products and plastic) the finished aesthetic is a serene and welcoming one.
Unlike new builds, the properties we start with often have original features intact. We cleverly rework and repurpose these materials, turning them into furniture, shelves, doors and decorative items. With this approach, we add to the rich and interesting history of the building in new and exciting ways.

People
Having visited Crete many times from Ireland, we often dreamed of making it our home – So that is exactly what we did. Over time, we forged strong relationships with the locals, learned the language, and then designed and constructed our own home.
Now, with our trusted network of expert engineers, architects, designers, builders, and tradespeople, we are helping others to realise their dreams by creating one-of-a-kind, carefully curated homes in Crete.
We Are STONE.
